Amanda Kautzman, Ph.D.
Amanda gradated from Northeastern University in 2008 with a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience. She then worked for as a research technician and lab manager with Dr. Beth Stevens at Children’s Hospital Boston (2008-2011) and Dr. Yoon-Jae Cho at Stanford University (2011-2012). In 2012, she began her graduate work in the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Reese at the University of California Santa Barbara where she investigated the genetic mechanisms underlying retinal cell development, both for populations of neurons as well as retinal astrocytes. She was awarded her Ph.D. in 2017 and joined the Schafer group where she is exploring how microglia play a role in sculpting the developing brain.
